LOVERS AND MADMEN

Lovers and Madmen is the first collaboration between myself and songwriter Beth Tennick. It is an adaptation of the Woody Allen film "A Midsummer Night's Sex Comedy". The show explores age, relationships, and nostalgia by following a group of middle aged people who meet at a couples holiday home in the country to celebrate the wedding of the wife's cousin. The strange intoxication of the summer heat and the mysterious forest causes passions to run high and soon they question their fidelity and succumb to the powerful force of nostalgia. A selection of the music from the first act was performed at the Renfrew Collective's 'Stage Four' event.
